Pentatonic scales are often the first scales one learns on guitar. This resources shows major and minor pentatonic with chord information. Thise is good for the someone who's learning and someone who knows and wants to know some theory behind the scales.

A side note, if you like Led Zeppelin, this resources will help you understand many of their songs. People who've learned on their own or who have little music theory often tell me that Jimmy Page used odd chords. Actually, he's using chords that fit the song and they aren't that uncommon. But, uncommonness depends on what you like to play.
