Barre Chords for Life
Chords are a basic building block of guitar playing. I teach basic open chords then basic barres then more advanced of both as they apply. Now, this often is at adds with why some people are motivated to learn the instrument. Thoughts like "the part of the song ____ is so bad, I'm gonna learn it and start a band" or "dude, the band ____ is my life, teach me all their songs" com from brains that take a little massaging to get the point about chords.
When learning chords, and yes F and B are pains for almost everyone until you get to barres, remember you're learning ALL songs. After a month or two, around 8ish lessons, this ideas starts to hit home. The main reason I type it is multi-part: I can say 'told ya so', you see that people go through it, and you learn to be a better guitar player than can jump into nearly anything and play. So, Barres for Life. I've been playing around 20 years, off and on, and I keep expanding my interests and learning to deal with barres is still present. But, I can jump in and play. :) Added on: 2008 08 26
