Review Carcassi in Tablature
Nearly a year ago I purchased Carcassi in Tablature. This is a spiral bound book and CD published by Mel Bay. Here's the bad and good.
Bad: Well, if being super picky, I'd have to say the music is more for beginners--which isn't necessarily bad. There's an abundance of short, sometimes 8 measure, simple pieces. If you are looking for grade 8 pieces, don't buy this book. Good: This book has many easy pieces which makes it a good fit for beginning classical and fingerstyle guitarists. Carcassi was known for making accessible pieces. The included CD has 64 tracks! So many of the pieces have a recording so you can hear how it should sound. Overall: This is a great book for a guitar teachers and for many guitar students. Some of the seeming simple pieces, the Preludes, make for great examples to study chord theory and progression. This is highly recommended for anyone starting to have an interest in classical. Updated on: 2008 07 03
